Role Expectation/ Deliverables

A senior Project Manager is required to lead the execution of the solution of the Annual Financial Statements Utility project.

The Project Manager will have accountability for managing the project end to end and will include includes the following responsibilities:

Project Planning

  • Planning and Defining Scope
  • Leading project planning sessions
  • Activity Planning and Sequencing
  • Managing project progress and adapt work as required
  • Ensure that the project is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared relevant stakeholders

Project Schedule

  • Ensuring project meet deadlines
  • Developing Schedules
  • Time Estimating
  • Creating Charts and Schedules
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

Resource Planning

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Coordinating external and internal resources
  • Managing project team
  • Team Leadership
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Delegate project tasks based on team members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Managing relationships with stakeholders
  • Strategic Influencing
  • Business Partnering

Project Documentation

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, as per Absa’s requirements

RAID Management (Risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies)

  • Identifying RAIDs
  • Managing and analysing RAIDs
  • Designing mitigation plans

Project Governance and Reporting

  • Ensuring good project governance including set up and managing of Steering Committee and Operations Committee
  • Monitoring and Reporting on project progress

Key Competencies

  • Proficiency in managing complex data type projects in financial industry
  • Understanding of Annual Financial Statements
  • Experience in resolving complex business, system, change management and program/project delivery challenges
  • Experience in project management of projects and large matrix teams responsible for scope, schedule, quality resource management, stakeholder management, etc.
  • Strong experience in facilitating resolution of cross-team integrated topics.
  • Strong expertise in project delivery methods, tools and templates
  • Skilled in written, verbal, and presentation of business communication when interacting with stakeholders in a professional services business environment, including articulating technical concepts to business stakeholders and driving development efforts with stakeholders.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10-15 years of experience managing large scale and complex projects.
  • 5-8 years financial services industry experience is preferable
  • Possess strong leadership, able to motivate & guide others
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Able to engage and communicate with stakeholders
  • Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team project environment.
  • Experience in both traditional/waterfall project management as well as agile project management, certification in both would be preferred.

Operational Business Hours, Expected Working Location

•Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00 GMT+2, excluding public holidays

•8 hour working day
